His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace. Ephesians 2:15
Two broken entities.
Colors shouting back and forth to each other:
You are one.
I am the other.
He has already made us
One.
He has broken down
the wall of partition.
He made peace out of
pieces.
Peace.
Greek: (noun) Eirene: A state of national tranquility
Exemption from the rage and havoc of war.
Peace between individuals.
There is no need for slinging words
Or rocks or stones
It is finished.
By One who was two.
Both God and man.
He RECONCILED…
brought back a former state of harmony…
when he hung
from two pieces of wood
joined in the middle
to form a
Cross.
That
was his
Purpose.
Why are we making it our own?
“It
is
finished.”
He cried.
Will we join
as He did
at that point
in the
middle?
If we are His
image bearers,
His
purpose
should be
our own.

Loved this so much. Yes, it is finished. There are some who do not know God has reconciled us to himself. But sadly, some that do know this truth still see the divisions. Sometimes cause them. Oh that God would let them see that He completed the job he came to do. And we can be one in Him.
So grateful that you grasp this burden I struggle to express, and that you also see and carry with me. Thank you for sharing your heart here.
Sometimes we have to read the poem twice – nay – we need to read it aloud to gain the beauty in it. Your poem caused me to take a deep breath and see the beauty of reconciliation as we become one in Christ. Thank you.
Christine, your comment makes me take in a breath and pause. Sometimes as writers we question why we continue, yet God presses us to keep going. Thank you for your encouragement to keep examining and sharing His word and truth. Blessings to you!
Your poem touched me deeply. That cross of Christ. May I never forget the One who met us in the middle—between damnation and salvation, paying my ransom in his crucified flesh. While the world wrestles for dominant ideologies—I’m reminded of the One who’s already on the throne forever. We are ONE in the One who died to set us free from our seemingly endless striving for power. For THINE is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory forever! Amen!
yes, Heather, now more than ever, His cross is enough! These truths we have “known” forever need to be known more deeply than ever. so thankful these words touched your heart ….
