At times my bricolage does feel like a do-it-yourself project, as I’m still figuring out how everything fits together. Yet I’m also convinced that this unique combination of writing, editing, and speaking is God’s call on my life in this season. This is God’s bricolage for me.
Sometimes I get consumed with my projects and what I’m making and how I’m going to forge a path ahead. It’s all about me and my plans instead of about where the Lord might want to take me.
Bearing fruit is work; blooming takes time; does a red date grow up; just to wrinkle in the hot Asian sun?
When it comes to the work of the Garden, bigger isn’t always better. Beauty, after all, is cultivated through care, and care, like mulch, can often spread too thin.
This restoration was to reset God’s original provisions set out when the Israelites first entered their Promised Land.
If the weekly Sabbath had been faithfully observed, they might have had the faith to depend on God for their food every seven years, and if they had learned that God was faithful to provide for them every seven years, they might have had the faith to release everything back to the Lord in the Year of Jubilee.
Perhaps it means faithfully doing the work he has called you to even when you wonder if it matters at all.
