Kristin Wolden Nitz

Kristin Wolden Nitz is the author of three children’s novels. Defending Irene is the story of an American girl playing on an Italian boys’ soccer team. It was drawn from the three and a half years she and her family spent in Merano, a spa town in the Italian Alps where they were known as the Americans. Her second novel, Saving the Griffin, a portal fantasy set in Tuscany, was on children’s choice lists in Kentucky and Georgia. Kirkus called her YA mystery Suspect “intriguing, suspenseful fun.” Her articles, short stories, and poetry have appeared in Highlights, High Fives, Cricket, Boy’s Quest, and Hopscotch. She has also written three nonfiction middle grade sports books for Lerner.
